Dental Bridges in Jackson Heights That Fit Your Bite

How a Dental Bridge Replaces a Missing Tooth

A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth with a pontic, the replacement tooth, held by crowns on the teeth on either side. It’s cemented, not removable. So it stays put when you eat, talk, and laugh.

Those side teeth get reshaped first. Dr. Ames removes a little enamel from the abutment teeth, the ones that hold the bridge, and that step can’t be undone. If you’d rather leave those teeth alone, a single tooth implant is the other route.

Dental Bridges for a Gap of One or More Teeth

Our dental bridge patients are usually missing one tooth, or a few in a row, and have healthy teeth on both sides of the gap. That’s what a bridge needs. Some have been chewing on one side for months, or hiding the gap when they laugh.

Then comes the cost question. People weigh what a bridge costs against an implant, how long it lasts, and how hard it is to clean under. Each one gets a straight answer before anything is decided.

20+ Years of Practice Behind Every Bridge We Place

Queens Central Dental’s bridges are planned and placed by Dr. Ilya Ames, who has practiced for more than 20 years. His DDS is from SUNY Buffalo. His work centers on cosmetic dentistry and implants, so he knows both routes for a missing tooth.

No surprises on cost. You get the full price before any tooth is reshaped, since that’s the one step you can’t take back. If a bridge isn’t right for your mouth, he’ll say so.

How Long It Takes, From Impressions to Final Bridge

A traditional dental bridge typically takes two visits, one to prepare the teeth and take impressions and one to cement the final bridge. A temporary bridge fills the gap between. At our Jackson Heights office, the bridge is priced as one job before the first visit.

Neighboring teeth can shift into an empty space over time, which is why it’s worth planning soon after a tooth comes out. Waiting can narrow your options. Replacing an old bridge that’s loose or chipped works the same way.

Close to Home for Elmhurst, Woodside, and Jackson Heights

From our office in Jackson Heights, Queens Central Dental places dental bridges for patients anywhere within about five miles. Elmhurst sits right next door. That covers much of central Queens.

Shop at Queens Center or take walks in Elmhurst Park? We’re one neighborhood over. Woodside and East Elmhurst are just as close, which matters when a bridge takes a couple of visits to finish.

FAQs

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed replacement for one or more missing teeth. It uses crowns on the teeth on either side of the gap to hold a false tooth, called a pontic, in place. Because it’s cemented, you don’t take it out to clean it or at bedtime.

How much does a dental bridge cost?

We price a dental bridge by how many teeth it replaces and what the supporting teeth need, so the cost is set once Dr. Ames has examined you. Some dental plans pay toward bridges, and we’ll check yours with you before anything starts.

Is a dental bridge permanent?

Dental bridges are fixed, but they aren’t permanent. A bridge stays put day to day and on average lasts five to 15 years, and some last longer with good care. Daily cleaning and regular checkups help protect the teeth that hold it up.

Should I get a dental implant or a bridge?

Whether a bridge or an implant fits better depends on the teeth around the gap, your bone, your budget, and how long you want the fix to last. Implants generally last longer and help preserve bone, while a bridge avoids surgery but reshapes the neighboring teeth.

How do you clean under a dental bridge?

You clean under a dental bridge every day with a floss threader or a tiny interdental brush that fits beneath the false tooth. Food can collect there, and skipping it can lead to gum inflammation or cavities on the supporting teeth.
