Teeth Whitening in Jackson Heights That Fits Your Smile
How Teeth Whitening Works at Our Office
Teeth whitening at Queens Central Dental uses a peroxide gel, the bleaching agent, to lift stains out of your enamel. It starts with an exam. That first look tells us if you're dealing with surface stains from coffee, tea, wine, or tobacco.
Not every tooth whitens the same. Crowns, veneers, and fillings don't whiten, so Dr. Ames checks where yours are and tells you if the shades could end up mismatched. Deeper color in the dentin, the layer under your enamel, is slower to lift.
Is Whitening Right for Coffee Stains and Yellow Teeth?
Most of our teeth whitening patients like their teeth but no longer love how they look in photos. Nothing hurts, and nothing's broken. That's why whitening is often the first cosmetic dentistry treatment people try.
Plenty of people try strips first. Then they start asking whether a dentist's whitening is worth it, or whether their teeth will end up sore afterward. Those are fair questions, and you'll get straight answers to both.
Why Choose a Dentist for Teeth Whitening?
Queens Central Dental is owned by Dr. Ilya Ames, who earned his DDS at SUNY Buffalo in 2004 and examines every whitening patient himself. That’s over 20 years of practice. Plus, the American Dental Association notes that an exam before whitening can find what’s causing the discoloration to begin with.
You also get an honest preview. Before anything starts, Dr. Ames tells you what kind of change is realistic for your teeth, because results vary from person to person. If whitening won't get you there, he'll say so.
When to Book Teeth Whitening Before an Event
Booking teeth whitening at our Jackson Heights office starts with a phone call, and we're open Monday through Saturday to take it. Pricing is simple. You get one price for your whitening before you commit to anything.
A wedding, a reunion, a job interview, or family photos are what usually put whitening on the calendar. So call early. Dr. Ames sees you first, and you'll want room to spare before the big day.

FAQs
Queens Central Dental prices teeth whitening after Dr. Ames has seen your teeth, so the number fits your mouth. Many dental plans treat whitening as cosmetic, which means it's usually paid out of pocket. We're happy to check your plan anyway if you call with your insurance details.
How long teeth whitening lasts depends mostly on your habits, because the same things that stained your teeth can stain them again. Coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco are the usual causes. A dentist can suggest upkeep once they've seen your teeth.
Teeth whitening's common side effects are mild and short-lived when it's used as directed. The real risk is overuse, which can damage enamel and gums. That's why the American Dental Association suggests seeing a dentist first to find out whether whitening suits your teeth.
Some sensitivity is common with teeth whitening, and it's typically mild and temporary. It happens when the whitening gel reaches the layer under the enamel and irritates the nerve. Tell your dentist if your teeth are already sensitive, so the plan can account for it.
Teeth whitening works on natural teeth, though how well depends on the starting color. Yellow teeth usually whiten well, brown teeth may respond less, and gray tones may not change much. Dr. Ames can tell you which group your teeth fall into.
How long teeth whitening takes at a dentist depends on the method. In-office whitening is typically done in a single visit, while custom take-home trays are worn daily over a week or more. Deeper stains can take longer with either one.
